Brief Description of SOFIA
Sofia is the capital city of Bulgaria and is located on the south-western part of Bulgaria. Sofia`s population is about 1.204.685 citizens. It is located close to springs and surrounded by mountains. On the south part of the city it located mountain of Vitosha which is also place for winter sports for the citizens of Sofia.
The old roman name of the city is Serdica and after that it was known under the name of Triaditsa and Sredets. Finally the city was given the name of Sofia. Nowadays in the city there are a lot of museums, old churches, monuments and administration buildings.
City tour includes a visit of the church of Saint Nedelya and of Rotonda St. George, church of St Nedelya, “Alexandar Nevski Cathedral”, National Library, National Theater, National Archeologiacal Museum.
Church of St. Nedelya
It is an Eastern Orthodox Church in Sofia. It has suffered destruction through the ages and has been reconstructed many times. The present church is one of the main sights of Sofia.
The Church of St George
The church of St George is considered as oldest building in Sofia. It was built by the Romans in the 4th century. Various layers of frescoes have been discovered during 12th and 13th century.

The church is officially known as “Saint Nikolay Miracle-Maker”. It was built in 1914.
National Theater of Sofia
The National Theater Ivan Vazov is the oldest theater in the country and of the most important landmarks in the city.
National Library of Sofia
The National Library of Sofia was founded in 4th April 1878 and it is one of the landmarks in the city.
